The most revolutionary people are just ordinary people who are permitting themselves the freedom to do what feels right for them.

- Amy Herring, “Astrology of the Moon: An Illuminating Journey”

I highly recommend this book, especially to those who are ruled by the Moon (Sun, Moon, ASC in Cancer, 4th house planets, Moon connected to an angle, or Moon aspecting the ruler(s) of an angle).

My natal Moon is conjunct Uranus, progressed Moon is in Aquarius and Uranus is transiting my 4th house. I am feeling this statement to infinity power – even more than usual (natal Sun trine Uranus).

Cue Sting’s “Englishman In New York” (“I’m an alien. I’m a legal alien.”) and Michael Jackson’s “Stranger in Moscow” (“How does it feel? How does it feel? When you’re alone and you’re cold inside?”):

Well, Michael, it feels like my inner self is in line with how I’m presenting myself, which is new (progressed Moon is sextile my natal ASC). I’m used to feeling comfortable with myself but uncomfortable with others (Sun trine Moon separate from my ASC). And I’m following my intuitive hunches more easily (progressed Moon trine natal Mars in air signs vs. natal watery Moon quindecile airy Mars). All leading me to the right place at the right time with the right ideas and words. I feel more team-oriented and appreciated by my chosen groups. Not at all cold inside. Welcome changes, actually.

Celebrity Astro Side-Note: Sting has natal Moon conjunct Neptune in Libra in the 4th house squaring Uranus in Cancer in the 12th and sextile Pluto in Leo in the 1st. This is a nice complement to my Moon and Uranus in Scorpio in the 12th trine Sun in Cancer in the 8th square Pluto in Libra sextile 2 planets in Leo. I always play him when I’m in the mood to self-soothe. His melodies are like lullabies with just enough kick to keep things from getting too boring (Hi, Enya!), but never crashing down on me like heavy metal rock (which disturbs my commune with the spirit realm). He is the quintessential “easy listening” artist.

His Moon (wife) configuration explains this magical (Neptunian) creation:

“The secret to creativity is hiding your sources.” – Albert Einstein, “Genius”

I rarely write “by signs” posts. One of the reasons is because I don’t want to attract readers who are only focused on Sun signs. Another reason is that those posts are most likely to be spread all over the Internet without attribution. (Unfortunately, I know this by experience. Fortunately, © is highly enforceable for American works.)

And that is exactly what I saw happen yesterday by the @ZodiacFacts account on Twitter (in reverse chronological order because that’s how Twitter works):

Let’s review his Twitter bio.

He thinks stating that he’s not the writer is enough of a disclaimer to avoid plagiarism and/or copyright infringement charges. It is not.

Here’s his stated policy about citing sources on his account…

Yes, you read that right.

Now why would revealing his sources defeat his “purpose for posting lol”? Because he’s fully aware that he has little to no original ideas and, therefore, is stealing others’ ideas. “Lol” (laughing out loud) = I think this is a joke. If he made furniture and I “researched” chairs right out of his storage facility and passed them out for free and without credit to him to attract customers to my store, would this thievery still be funny? What about if I had a “downline” of 900K+ furniture suppliers who could potentially do the same thing that I’m doing with the furniture that I “researched” from him? That would be at least 3 felony charges for me.

He is fully aware of how to state/cite sources, so there goes the plausible deniability argument:

And he certainly knows how to accept/take credit for his wonderful “researching” skills:

And he knows how to “humbly” thank his readers for the existence of his account:

Here’s his alleged motivation for stealing posting “Zodiac Facts”.

Yes, you read that right, too.

Here’s his real motivation for posting stealing zodiac facts.

Yeah, “spon” is a required indication to let readers know that the link is a sponsored link, meaning that @ZodiacFacts gets paid by MyLikes.com to drive traffic to MyLikes.com clients. (I enjoy researching, too.)

If the person behind @ZodiacFacts had bothered to respect or research my copyright as he is legally required to do, he would know the conditions of my copyrighted posts:

1. Shareable IF MY PERMISSION IS GRANTED.

2. Shareable WITH CLEAR ATTRIBUTION TO ME (including links back to the original source).

3. Shareable FOR NON-COMMERCIAL PURPOSES.

But no:

1. @ZodiacFacts posted my work without asking for – or receiving – my permission. Strike 1.

2. @ZodiacFacts posted my work without clearly attributing to me. Strike 2.

3. @ZodiacFacts posts for commercial purposes. He clearly makes money from his readers clicking his MyLikes.com links. How does he gain his followers? By posting stolen creative work. Strike 3.

Not only did he violate my copyrights, he got an attitude with me in my Direct Message inbox about publicly challenging him on his theft.

I’m sorry, he already established disrespect by ignoring my clearly marked copyright featured at the end of every one of my copyrighted articles.

(FACT: This entire blog is under a Creative Commons license, which means that every post that I publish is automatically legally protected whether the © sign is there or not.)

So why does he think that I owe him the courtesy of “approaching him” privately? Could it be a case of Aquarian narcissism? Hmm…

This arrogant ignorance is a huge no-no to me. You do not do wrong and then insist that it’s the other person who is injuring you. I was willing to work with him and offer the use of my work with attribution. Since he would obviously rather delete work from his Twitter timeline than attribute a writer, that reveals his real character (or lack thereof) and “purpose” to me (and, thankfully, any reasonable judge).

Well, today is an intellectual property rights lesson for all, especially for an Aquarian who has found an “innovative” way to steal other people’s work in order to make money.  And, yes, by law, he is considered a thief.  That’s a FACT.

The Internet is about sharing information – both for profit and open source. But people are clearly under-informed and/or misinformed about the parameters of this sharing of other people’s work. It is possible to ethically share people’s work as “just a hobby”. @AstrologyBlog manages to consistently do it every day.

Why am I writing this post? Because he’s still haughtily portraying himself as guilt-free.

Either it’s ignorance or purposeful misrepresentation. Either way, it needs to stop.

FACT: I’m a CANCER and I “don’t back down”, either.  Your tweets are “awesome” because they are stolen. (Don’t believe me? Go “research” what someone with Moon in Scorpio and Mars in Gemini will do to you in a courtroom.)

The nerve of him to think that he has the right to take people’s work and think that they should silently take his theft. I hope every other writer who writes his “awesome tweets” comes for him, too.

So, dear @ZodiacFacts, while you’re tirelessly “researching” other people’s zodiac facts, also research intellectual property theft and copyright infringement – and how you are very sue-able for what you are doing.  Be thankful that I just “insulted” you with the truth rather than an injunction and a claim on whatever you have or will possibly earn in the future. I suggest that you not “research” any more of my works because I will gladly bring you to court. FACT.

I reblogged this 4 days ago because it’s the story of my life.

Thank you, Universe, for your gift of intuition.

While viewing this video titled “Atheist Elitism”, I laughed. A lot. To myself.

She makes several valid points about religion vs. skepticism vs. morality vs. immorality.

In her reasoning pattern, I recognize my spiritual journey from early exposure to other people’s dogma to questioning/challenging any assertion that someone made to believing that my doubt equaled knowing-it-all to feeling that religion is the catalyst for every evil in the world to gradually understanding the Meaning Of (My) Life…

I also recognize that the way in which we see the world always contains biases, so when she says, “I’m not coming from a biased place. I was once religious…”, I thought, “Yes, it is. And as you mature (i.e. spiritually evolve), you may be able to better understand your biases…and that everyone subscribes to a religion – regardless of whether or not it’s organized or labeled.”  Religious people don’t stop being religion; they just convert to another religion – which still suits whatever biases they have.

For example, she used the (historically accurate) example of humans causing much destruction in the name of religion. However, she fails to mention the many atheists who have historically committed heinous crimes against humanity, too – namely, by creating and using religion as a manipulation tool. (See atheist Leonardo daVinci painting the false image of “Jesus” that pops into many of our minds whenever we hear “Christ”.) Does she not know about these immoral atheists or is her mind screening out information that could weaken her faith in Doubtism?

So which came first: the chicken or the egg? It is my belief that having a belief system is human nature.

Which leads me to astrology (the ruler of my 9th house of beliefs is in the 8th house of metaphysics).

I wondered how this ideological conflict of faith vs. doubt is astrologically represented in our charts…

I would expect to find at least one of the following features in an atheist’s (or agnostic’s) chart, especially if the atheism or agnosticism is a result of losing one’s faith in something or someone:

  • a challenged Saturn (in hard aspect to another planet or angle), or challenged planet in Aquarius (co-ruled by Saturn) or Capricorn (ruled by Saturn)
  • a challenged Neptune (especially in hard aspect to Mars, Jupiter Saturn, Pluto or an angle)
  • Saturn involved with the 3rd or 9th house by residence, rulership or aspect
  • Saturn or Jupiter in a mutable sign (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces)
  • Saturn in the 12th house or Capricorn in the 12th house
  • Capricorn in the 9th house
  • Neptune in the 9th house
  • An earth sign (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) or fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) in the 3rd, 9th or 12th house
  • Jupiter, Saturn or Neptune in an earth sign (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) or a fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius)
  • Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) on the angles

There are more but these are some starters.

When I was this girl’s age, I figuratively worshiped Bill Maher, a comedian known for his radical views on organized religion. He’s a very vocal atheist, and can come off as an intellectual elitist. Like this girl, he was raised in a heavily religious environment, and is what he calls “a recovering Catholic”.

His Aquarius Sun falls in my 3rd house of early education. I became a fan at 11 years old. I would religiously tune into his “Politically Incorrect” (when it was on Comedy Central and moved with him to ABC). I followed him to HBO after “PI” was canceled due to his controversial statements about the “courageous” 9/11 terrorists who followed through on their beliefs.

My mom never liked him…

When I was born, my dad had just experienced a spiritual revelation and was converting from Christianity to Islam. But his newfound faith was in its infancy, so he didn’t pressure me to adopt his religion. His Mars, Jupiter and Lunar Nodes are in mutable signs.  The challenged Saturn is in full effect.

On the other hand, my mother was pretty damn fanatical about indoctrinating me with the horrors of organized religion and made sure to raise me so that I developed a disgust for the religiously duped. She subscribed to the “Religion of Being Nice”.  Meanwhile, she also encouraged me to develop faith in spirituality and the supernatural. When I pressed her to explain how she knew what she knew, she was satisfied with just saying “Because it is.”  This kind of certainty without tangible proof was unacceptable to me. I believed that she was naive at best and intellectually arrogant at worst.  She has five planets in mutable signs, fixed signs on the angles and her lunar nodes are in fixed signs.  The challenged Saturn is in full effect.

Coincidentally(?), around the same time that I became a fan of Bill Maher, my father and mother flipped roles. My dad became the overbearing tyrant who felt it was his job to “cleanse” me of my mom’s early teachings and my mom became the “live and let live” parent who had faith that her early indoctrination would stick to me like brown on rice.

Our parental axis runs along the 4th and 10th houses. I have Virgo in the 10th house and Pisces in the 4th. Both of my parents have Jupiter in Virgo. My mom’s Moon (habits;  intuition) is in Pisces and my dad’s Mars (instincts; aggression) is in Pisces. I won’t go into all of the details here, but it’s not that difficult to see how my birth chart is a descendant of my parents’ (blended) birth charts.

Growing up, I attended many different types of school. Some were explicitly religious while others were explicitly teaching a certain dogma. The one thing they all had in common was that I was exposed to many zealous people. When raised by people who are philosophically fanatical, the easiest path to take is to adopt their beliefs as one’s own. To regurgitate them means instant approval. Questioning and challenging the validity of the beliefs is the highest form of rebellion and it brings a lot of pain on oneself.  I believe this step is necessary, though, in order to formulate one’s own meaningful (and applicable) philosophy and preach it to others from a pulpit and help others discover their own philosophies that work for them.

A study of my entire chart can be summed up with “The family inheritances are a blessing and a curse.”  I was gifted with the wisdom of my parents (and my surrogate family) at a young age. They all saw so much early potential in me that they wanted to invest in my growth by inundating me with their views of how things are/should be. This came at a price, though. It took me a long time to develop my own beliefs.  So I commend the people who are courageously questioning their early indoctrination. And I relate to the egotism that sometimes stems from developing one’s intellectual capabilities enough to ask those pertinent questions.

The 9th house describes our philosophy and ethics, which are the result of the sum total of our understanding of our life experiences. It flows from the 8th house…where we learn how to merge with others. Their values and resources become ours, too.  But the 9th house is where we apply meaning and morality to what we’ve gained from others. The test of our moral code is in the 10th house, where we are challenged to succeed on our own.  When the religious utter some form of, “Only God can judge me”, they are unknowingly referring to the 10th house.  This is the house of Ultimate Authority, whether that’s God, a father figure, an employer, a cop, a judge or public opinion.  Who we admire and aspire to be like is also here…

When people say that they don’t believe in a God (or Higher Power), that’s a sign that we should start with their 10th house…and work backwards from there.

My admiration for Bill Maher considerably lessened shortly after graduating from college. As I experienced more, and began to develop wisdom based on these experiences, I became more comfortable in relying on myself as an authority over my life. Ironically, my atheist “Business Ethics” professor’s mentoring melted my agnosticism. He was attracted to me because of my ability to relentlessly and methodically break down people’s arguments in class.  (I hadn’t yet learned how to strengthen arguments.)  We spent many hours walking around campus discussing the great philosophers’ philosophies. The more comfortable I became in answering his Socratic questions and forming my own to ask of him, the less I worshiped/rebelled against external authority figures (and challenged other people’s beliefs).

Compared to my atheist professor’s non-defensive position of “I believe in what I believe and let others believe in what they believe”, Bill Maher began to sound too ideologically rigid to me – which resembled my parents a little too much for my comfort.  What I previously saw as intelligent examination of an issue that so many accept without question began to look like adult temper tantrums. The beginning of this revelation came from witnessing his love-hate relationship with Bush Jr. over the course of 9 years (2000-2009). What confirmed it for me was his most recent series of attacks on President Obama. They reveal him to be stuck in rebellion mode against authority figures.  In 2008, he supported Presidential Candidate Obama because he viewed him as the hip change candidate. But now he views Obama as someone who is maintaining the status quo.  He believes this despite also acknowledging all of the changes that the Obama Admin has initiated and/or completed. How are you maintaining the status quo if you’re also effecting change? Hmm…

Let’s take a look at Bill Maher’s birth chart. What story does it tell about his spiritual path and relationship with Higher Authority?

Note: Bill's chart ruler (Venus) is exalted in Pisces. He is very idealistic (and deluded) and sensitive to suffering - and isn't as objective (especially about his indiscriminate taste in friends) as he would like to believe. His solar ruler, a challenged Uranus (planet of rebellion), is in the 10th house and exactly opposes his Sun in Aquarius and Neptune in Scorpio. The over-emphasis of FIXED energy in his chart and the Saturn in Sagittarius hints at his zealous anti-religion fervor. He is slow to make up his mind and form his beliefs, but also slow to change them once he's come to a conclusion! With his Mars in Sagittarius, he is not afraid to proselytize his rigid anti-religious views, either. This type of hypocrisy is not atypical with people who have Aquarius and Sagittarius featured in their charts.

Below is President Barack Obama‘s laid on top of Bill Maher’s chart, so that we can easily see how their energy interacts.

Note: Barack Obama's Mercury (the planet of intellect, communication) in Leo is tightly conjunct Bill Maher's challenged Uranus in Leo in the 10th house.

President Obama is often recognized for his intelligence and speaking ability (Mercury in Leo). However, every time he communicates (especially when he speaks about his faith or plans to work with faith-based groups), we can see that it irritates Bill Maher and activates the rebellious (Uranus in Leo) part of his nature. Like Maher, Obama also has an over-emphasis in FIXED energy.  He may claim to want change, but this is hard for him to do, too!

Obama’s Aquarius Ascendant initially attracted Aquarian Bill Maher to him in a “love at first sight” way. When there’s an Ascendant-Sun conjunction, the Sun person tends to see themselves in the Rising person. Therefore, the Sun person easily falls “in love” with the Rising person’s superficial presentation and sees the potential as a special gift – without bothering to look underneath the wrapping paper!

So it seems that they connected on the Aquarian/Uranian ideals of “hope” and “change”.  But because they differ on how to define “change”, Bill has lost hope in Obama’s vision (Aquarius Rising) and questions Obama’s ethics, philosophy and political strategy (Jupiter in Aquarius).

Every indication points to their conflicts as being ego-based (involving both of their Suns and the sign Leo). It’s also noteworthy that Obama (who knows how to exploit a media platform) has bypassed appearing on Bill Maher’s show (a silent protest?) while appearing on other political infotainment shows such as “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart”, “The View” and Bill O’Reilly’s “O’Reilly Factor” …on FOX NEWS! No doubt this stings Maher’s ego – and Obama knows it. (Meanwhile, a frequent guest on “Real Time With Bill Maher” is Cornel West, a very vocal critic of President Obama.) Unless one or both of them bend, it is highly unlikely that they will ever see eye-to-eye.

Bill hopes that Pres. Obama acts more like George W. Bush, jr. (who, ironically, has a Leo Rising whereas Obama is actually a Leo)

Bill wants Pres. Obama to be a “real” “gangster” Black President “with a gun in his pants”.

At this rate, I highly doubt that Bill Maher will vote for Obama in 2012 because he no longer represents “change” that Bill can believe in. :)

I’m willing to bet that if Ron Paul ever won the presidential election, Bill would find something disappointing about him, too. Instead of being the abstract Anti-Authority Figure that Bill Maher worships admires, Ron would change  into the hated Authority Figure. I have a strong feeling that Bill’s issues with authority stem from an uneasy relationship with his father that has to do with trying to seek his approval yet feeling rejected, or idolizing his father and realizing that he was not the man of his dreams. Whatever the case, he transfers this relationship with his father to his ideas of God/Authority Figures, and it greatly affects his career – including getting him cancelled from network TV and ignored by the President of the United States. I also have a feeling that if he ever resolves his father issues, then we will see a Bill Maher with changed religious and political views. A big chunk of his story is told by his 10th house Uranus square 1st house Neptune.

Why did I once idolize Bill Maher as an intellectual authority figure? Maybe it’s my Sagittarius Ascendant (truth-seeker) square Saturn in Virgo (doubter; truth-tester). Maybe it’s my Neptune in Sagittarius (idealism; faith in a guru) square Midheaven in Virgo (admiration for those who can spot flawed logic).  Maybe it’s my Gemini Mars that finds witty people attractive (my Gemini mom still sarcastically refers to Bill as “your boyfriend”).

Why did I stop believing that Bill Maher has the right answers to everything? Because I began to question him – just like he taught me to do.

Here’s R.E.M.’s video for their hit, “Losing My Religion” (reportedly, a euphemism for masturbation):

Check out this video of George Lakoff, a famed linguist, describing how our different reasoning patterns influence our morality, which then shapes our politics. The biggest “ah!” moment was his explanation of how two family models shape Western politics: “The Strict Father” (conservative) and the “Nurturing Parent” (liberal).

Do you ever wonder why sometimes you identify with your zodiac (Sun) sign description and sometimes you don’t? Well, I’m about to let you in on a very important part of astrology to grasp:

—> Who “you” are is more than your zodiac sign. <—

Sometimes, I like to read daily horoscopes. I also follow zodiac accounts that spout fun facts about my Sun sign on Twitter. But I do so with the knowledge that I’m only reading about my core self. I’m so much more than that, though. And you are, too!

When I’m reading the Sun sign facts provided by my favorite astrology Twitter accounts, I apply the information given about the sign to the area of my birth chart in which it resides.

(If you’re unfamiliar with the term “birth chart”, catch up here.)

For example:

Aquarius is a highly intellectual air sign with a contradictory nature. It enjoys belonging to a group, but as a way to reinforce its own identity. Where ever we have Aquarius in our chart is where we are concerned with the group but are also a reformer of the group’s accepted norms. It is where we are rebellious enough to stand out within the group. We can easily make friends in this area of our chart, but we also have ideological conflicts here, too. It’s where we aren’t willing to “play nice” in order to make the group feel comfortable (see the area that Libra resides in for that approach). Our Aquarius-ruled house is where we urge people to “get up, stand up…stand up for your rights!” like Aquarian Bob Marley.

Aquarius is in my 3rd house. The 3rd house is associated with the mind, our curiosity level, early learning, our closest neighbors (and siblings), finding and connecting information, formulating  ideas, and communicating those ideas to others.  If we apply the above tweet to my chart, we can “guesstimate” that I have no tolerance for people who learn, think or communicate like sheep. Brainstorm in a group? Yes. Sit on your unpopular ideas or opinions out of fear that the group will disapprove? No. If I see this is how someone thinks or behaves, I quickly lose respect for that person’s intellect – even though that person may be very intelligent by society’s standards.

Another example: One of my favorite Aquarians refuses to watch “The Five Heartbeats”. For some seemingly arbitrary reason that probably only makes sense to her. But the fact is that she refuses to watch it. And the more she hears that this (brilliant!) movie is a must-see, the harder she resists in seeing it. Why?  Maybe she doesn’t like the number “5″. Or maybe she thinks that we were all suckered into thinking the movie is good, so it’s her job to refuse to be sucked into the group-thinking matrix.  Who the hell knows. That’s how Aquarius works.

Which brings me to the irony of Aquarius: the sign is a rebel (Uranus co-rules) that must have rules (Saturn co-rules) to rebel against because its very identity is based on not following others’ rules.

For more information about how to interpret the Aquarian house in someone’s chart, we’d follow the placements of Uranus (the planet of spontaneous insight/breakthroughs and social rebellion) and Saturn (the planet of restrictions, societal judgment, mastership, wisdom) in the person’s chart and the relationships between those planets and other areas of the chart (if there are any).

If you saw that Aquarius is in my 3rd house and understood what it meant, then you’d be less surprised to find out that I’m very interested in education reform, right? And you’d be able to “guesstimate” why I’m working hard to change/expand/redefine (Aquarius) the current educational structures (Saturn) that heavily rely on standardized (Saturn) testing (Saturn) to prove (Saturn) one’s knowledge (9th house) or that learning has occurred (Saturn in the 9th of Higher Education and Philosophy). I believe (9th house) that early education (3rd house) must emphasize developing a student’s ability to creatively (Leo on the cusp of the 9th house) think outside of the box (Aquarius in the 3rd house) in order to better prepare them for survival in The Real World (beyond the 9th house). My Virgo Saturn in the 9th house defines survival as “the ability to apply the knowledge you learned to solve life’s Big Problems”. Without that early preparation, one cannot fulfill their ambitions (10th house), see their dreams for their place in society (11th house) come true, or find the ultimate spiritual happiness (12th house).

But back to our Sun and how that fits into the equation…

My Sun is in Cancer. However, when I read that Cancers are incapable of exploring the world scientifically, my mind rejects that as having anything to do with me: “That may be true of Cancers in general, but not this one! I’m different!” says my Aquarian-ruled 3rd house. (Now, if I were to throw a temper tantrum about this description or decide not to like the person who describes Cancer this way, then that would be coming from a very feeeeeling place, wouldn’t it?) My Uranus is in my 12th house of Secrets (I keep most of my rebellions or insights to myself. Sometimes from myself too!). It connects with several other planets in my chart -  including that Cancer Sun that supposedly can’t experience the world through anything but my emotions.

Since our Sun describes our ego, sometimes I identify with the matters related to Uranus and sometimes I don’t (12th house). Since whatever stays hidden usually eventually comes to light (see Uranian “lightbulb” moments!), I will only remain in the dark about how my mind works for so long before I have an “aha!” moment about myself (Cancer Sun). I am very interested in learning about the wacky ways of the mind…unlike my current peers who seem to have no interest in this at all.

Saturn, the other ruler of Aquarius, is in my 9th house of Higher Learning through Experience, Exploration and Explanation. This reinforces that I tend to learn by recognizing, creating and breaking down boundaries. My most memorable lessons in life are the result of pushing __ to the limit or beyond the limit, or not pushing the limits enough.

While the latter part of that fits in with most descriptions of sensitive, emotion-ruled Cancer who is afraid to speak our minds for fear of upsetting anyone or disturbing the mood of the group (aka the all-important family unit), it does not describe the former part at all.

We can do this interpretive exercise all around the chart for every house (or planet that is associated with a sign) to get beyond the Sun sign description of a person. If done well, astrology can help to accurately describe the nuances of the individual personality (Leo) as opposed to only dealing in group stereotypes/patterns (Aquarius).  It can help us accurately predict how an individual will respond in any given situation, which is the key part of doing the predictive work that so many people request of astrologers.

(By the way, Aquarius is also the ruler of astrology, and I happen to have no tolerance for people who are intolerant of astrology as a meaningful field of study, especially if their intolerance is because astrology isn’t accepted by mainstream groups.)

Examples of how this works with other signs:

Is Virgo in your 4th house of Domesticity and Emotional Security? Then no one better make a mess in your house, or bring any emotional drama to you without expecting you to “tidy up” their problem with a detailed solution!  This would be true even if your Sun is in Sagittarius, a sign that is notorious for skipping the details.

Is Taurus in your 5th house of Pleasure and Romance? The way into your heart is through your 5 senses. They must massage and feed you while whispering sweet-nothings in your ear. And they better have on the best smell-good that they can find. This is true even if your Sun is “cold” Capricorn.

[Side-note: Intolerance is based on our own norms, which are described by the planet Saturn. So you might identify more with the #Ihavenotolerance statements of the sign that your Saturn is in.]

So, the next time you think, “That zodiac sign description doesn’t fit me! Astrology is wack!”, remember that our zodiac sign (Sun) may be the center of our personality (galaxy), but it is not alone in the birth chart (Universe).

If you are frequently attracting (or are annoyed by) a certain zodiac sign, then it’s probably a sign that you need to pay more attention to that area of your chart where that sign is located.

Because all of us have all 12 zodiac signs represented in our charts.

All of those 12 zodiac signs correspond to 12 houses that represent everything that we experience in life.

So that attractive/annoying person’s solar energy is shining light in one of our houses, which means that person’s purpose (Sun) in our lives at that moment of contact is to shed light on a particular area of our lives.

This process of how other people’s energy interacts with our energy describes what we often hear:

Loving something or someone else is loving a piece of ourselves.

Hating something or someone else is hating a piece of ourselves.

Whether our ego (Sun) recognizes that or not.

The most fun fact of all?

How you receive the information in this post has something to do with me, but even more to do with where Cancer, Leo and Aquarius fall in your chart.

If you understand why, then my work (for this post) is done.

It seems like every day, I’m reading a story about some big company buying another company to ensure world domination increase profitability. It’s more than a little scary. We may need to tap into the spirit of Teddy “Trust-Busting” Roosevelt to help us.

John Pierpont Morgan (April 17, 1837 – March 31, 1913) was an American financier, banker and art collector who dominated corporate finance and industrial consolidation during his time. In 1892 Morgan arranged the merger of Edison General Electric and Thomson-Houston Electric Company to form General Electric. After financing the creation of the Federal Steel Company he merged in 1901 with the Carnegie Steel Company and several other steel and iron businesses, including Consolidated Steel and Wire Company owned by William Edenborn, to form the United States Steel Corporation.

Ah, Aquarius Rising. Since conventional wisdom says that this sign rules astrology (I question this), that is a possible explanation for his championship of the discipline. In a few pictures of him that I’ve seen, he has a certain…”wild-eyedness” that I associate with Aquarius Risings. That can also be attributed to the ruler of Aquarius, Uranus, in Pisces (note the “far-away” look in his eye – kind of like this Uranian Sun Pisces) in his 1st house. Any planets in this house color our appearance. (We’ll get to Aquarius’ traditional ruler, Saturn, later.)

Note: Although this birth time is quoted from his grandfather, the rounded time is highly suspicious. According to his Astrowiki:

The chart pictured by Evangeline Adams in her One Hundred Horoscopes is for 1:10 PM LMT. As he was one of Adam’s most famous clients, the time might be considered as coming from him but has no such confirmation.

So which chart is correct?

Just by the look of him, I could also say that the second chart below seems accurate, too. In some pictures, he has the austere appearance of a “stereotypical” Capricorn Rising and he played life as if it were a game of Monopoly:

The history of Monopoly can be traced back to 1904  , when a Quaker woman named Elizabeth (Lizzie) J. Magie Phillips created a game through which she hoped to be able to explain the single tax theory of Henry George (it was intended to illustrate the negative aspects of concentrating land in private monopolies). Her game, The Landlord’s Game, was commercially published in 1924. – Wiki

Sounds about right, right? Not so fast! When the birth time is in question, we can’t make conclusions based on assumptions that are based on superficial analysis like, “Well, his hair is cut short and he was always wearing suits! He is definitely a Capricorn Rising!” First, we have to take a look at how well the chart “fits” (what we know of) him. (That is, if we’re not playing a Guessing Game for fun.)

With this chart, J.P. Morgan might’ve been the model for Monopoly! His adventurous Aries Sun and capitalistic Capricorn Rising describes someone whose path was to develop the courage to take new financial risks and enough business sense to capitalize on a good investment. These two signs square each other, so when they make up 2 of a person’s “Big 3″ (Sun, Moon, Rising), we would expect an individual with a great deal of inner conflict. Was his life goal to become the richest man alive to prove himself to his father? For someone with Capricorn Rising, the ends can justify the means and consulting an astrologer would satisfy his Arian need for quick advice that would help him over the long-term (Capricorn). As long as the advice served a practical use (Virgo Moon), he could justify frequently using alternative methods that a conventional Capricorn Rising might poo-poo.

Though she frequently lied about her birth date (which helps me think her Pisces ASC is correct!), we’re pretty sure that Evangeline Adams was an Aquarius. If John’s 3am birth time is correct, that would put Evangeline’s Sun in his 12th house of hidden benefactors. She was certainly not a secret weapon, so this is another reasonable doubt for the 3am birth time. If he had Capricorn Rising, then her Sun was most likely in John’s 1st (self-identity) or 2nd house (personal values and wealth). This seems more accurately descriptive to me. She was definitely a valuable asset to him, helping him establish both his wealth and his identity based on his business moves.

However, look at the Aries stellium in his Aquarius Rising chart’s 2nd house with Pluto as the first planet. Wow. Pluto ruling his 9th house of higher learning, politics, and ethics describes a person who knew how to revive “dead” ideas that helped him make money. This would reinforce my speculation that his guiding philosophy was “making money is proof that my methods are morally sound”. In this chart, his Saturn in Scorpio (financial discipline; fear of losing power) is in the 8th house of Shared Resources, which is naturally associated with Scorpio. This is a strong placement for someone who worked hard to attain access to/control over other people’s stuff. We know that he had a penchant for merging companies in order to build bigger ones that ate up huge market shares. Did he purchase his businesses on credit or have issues with blowing other people’s money? His Sun’s ruler (Mars) is in the 6th house. We know he was a workaholic. How was his health? Did it improve or worsen as he worked on projects?

In his Capricorn Rising chart, his stellium moves to the 3rd house, leaving Uranus and Pluto in his 2nd house. Does he seem like a 3rd houser to you? Was he more interested in the local financial markets than international? Did he have impulsive spending habits? Was he fidgety or talkative? A quick learner? Did he frequently travel for business? With this birth time, his Moon in Virgo is in his 8th house. Did he dispassionately and systematically acquire other companies? Were his adult business methods a manifestation of an early childhood need to prove his worth by being perfect or right? Was he afraid of dying without having attained power? His all-important Saturn in Scorpio moves into his 9th house. I would expect someone with this placement to have a rigid philosophy about all things related to Scorpio (sex, power, death, transformation, spirituality, etc.). Did he have sexual hang-ups that affected his relationships? Was he “killing” and “birthing” companies in order to prove his virility? Did he believe that his life was meaningless if he couldn’t transfer money (i.e. power) to future generations? What did he use his power to gain? His Sun’s ruler is in the 7th here. Was he very competitive? Did he have a lot of famous friends and adversaries? Did he mostly gain or lose power through any of them?

When the birth times are questionable – as in the cases of J.P. and Evangeline, I would ask these types of questions before coming to a conclusion. Using our understanding of the symbols and intuition as guides, this is just one of the steps for rectifying a chart (confirming the birth time). The next one would be lining up transits with major events in his life to see which chart fits those, too. Ideally, I’d want to go through this process with the help of J.P., though. :)

As someone with both a business and astrological background, I do find it fascinating that he was so public (and adamant!) about his use of an astrologer. There are many people who like to keep that tidbit in their back pocket. He’s one of the revered examples in business school, yet we certainly weren’t taught this about him!

Last summer, the kids next door sang the hit “Billionaire” at the top of their lungs every. f!@%kin’. day. If I never hear this chorus again in life, I’ll be okay. It is catchy, though…

What do you think of J.P.’s quote? Was he wise to use astrology? Did astrology give him an unfair advantage over his competitors? Which chart do you think best fits him? Why? Can you tell that monopolies and Big Business are on my mind?

Confession: This is one of the many reasons why I’m not mad about Osama bin Laden’s death. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Whitney. (Seriously.)

Apparently, he had me beat as her biggest fan. When I heard about this story several years ago, I joked about it with my friends, but the details are serious.

On August 21, 2006:

Whitney Houston has a new fan – Osama bin Laden. Kola Boof, the terrorist’s former sex slave, claims in her new book that he was obsessed with the troubled How Will I Know singer. She revealed to Harpers Bazaar magazine: “He told me Whitney was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.

“He said that he had a paramount desire for her and although he claimed music was evil, he spoke of someday spending vast amounts of money to go to America and try to arrange a meeting.”

Kola – who until recently wrote for soap opera The Days of Our Lives – also says Osama wanted to shower her with gifts and convert her to Islam. The 37-year-old explained: “He said he wanted to give her a mansion he owned in a suburb of Khartoum. He would say how beautiful she is, what a nice smile she has, how truly Islamic she is but is just brainwashed by American culture and by her husband – Bobby Brown, whom Osama talked about having killed, as if it were normal to have women’s husbands killed.”

Kola added: “He explained to me that to possess Whitney, he would be willing to break his color rule and make her one of his wives.” Source

Could the 1994 South Africa performance in a turban or the pictures of her in flowing robes during her 2003 spiritual quest to Israel and Africa have something to do with Osama’s crush?

Perhaps.

Here’s a possible astrological explanation:

Venus is the planet of romantic idealization. Our Ascendant (or Rising) describes our physical image and the first impression that we give to strangers. Osama was a Pisces with Mercury and Venus in Pisces. Guess who has Pisces Rising? That’s right: Whitney.

Both Venus and Pisces are into idealization, so this easily (and superficially) describes her as his ideal woman (at least in a romantic sense). In Pisces, Venus is attracted to ethereal beauty and yearns from afar. But Osama’s Venus was connected to Neptune (more idealization) in Scorpio, which escalates his crush to a sexual obsession. Scorpio is ruled by Mars (the planet of War and Sex) and Pluto (the planet of Death). He wasn’t satisfied with just admiring Whitney. He needed to possess her and didn’t mind killing her husband to do it. If we add in that the dispositor (Pluto) of his Neptune (dreams) is in Leo (star power), the same sign as Whitney’s Sun (life force), then we’ll have an even more layered explanation for why he felt a strong attraction to her. I’m going to speculate that he fantasized about dominating her (Pluto) and/or using her as a trophy to show off his sexual virility and total God-like power. (I guess no one wanted to tell him that Whitney prefers Aquarians as lovers and Pisceans as family.)

Her Mercury in Virgo tightly opposes his Mercury and Venus in Pisces. Every time she opened her mouth to sing or speak, it was a case of attracting her opposite. This is how people attract stalkers. The more visible you are, the more likely it is that someone sees you and becomes obsessed (especially with people with emphasized Leo, 8th house planets or Scorpionic/Plutonian energy). Whitney has Neptune in Scorpio in the 8th house. She’s a perfect hook for a Neptunian person to become obsessed with her. She’s also not a stranger to being the obsessive one (see her admitted addictions to drugs, sex, religion & idealizing her intimate union with ex-hubby, Aquarian Bobby Brown). In his solar chart, Osama’s Neptune is located in the 8th house and it aspects his Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus. Yikes. This guy needed some more air for added objectivity in his chart.

As for Whitney’s overseas trips attracting Osama’s attention? Highly likely. Her MC in Sagittarius ( trine her Leo Sun, which describes her yearning to seek spiritual, self-actualizing enlightenment internationally, and with Nelson Mandela – Sagittarius Rising) conjoins his Saturn in Sagittarius (square his Pisces Sun, which makes him generally bigoted but open-minded enough to consider breaking his “color rule” for “lucky” Whitney).

Dude looked sweet and spoke in a soft manner but his chart (and how he chose to express the energies in it) is scary as hell.

Here’s his solar chart.

In “Prince – Glory Years”, his collaborators and music journalists discuss his production style and influence on pop culture of the late 70s and 80s. This is Prince we’re talking about, so it may not be available to watch for long…

My initial impressions:

“Splatter chart” with Gemini Sun - Focused on many areas of life; scattered energy; needs many different outlets for his creativity to fulfill his life purpose

Scorpio Rising, Pluto in Leo exactly conjunct his Midheaven (career, public reputation, highest aspirations) and an 8th house Sun? He was meant to explore/challenge/deconstruct society’s taboos about sex, money & power. Like Aretha Franklin (Queen of Soul), Prince’s Midheaven is in Leo (the sign of royalty) and he is known for loving royal purple. He’ll be forever linked to “Purple Rain”. Not to mention his name…

8th house Sun in Gemini trine Jupiter in Libra in the 11th house (social; friendships; progressive ideals) – a strong belief in equality and a desire to transcend all boundaries (racial, gender, musical/entertainment genre, etc.); seamlessly connecting disparate concepts and people; the ability to use sexual double-entendres in his lyrics to increase radio airplay while also stimulating the minds of those who are quick enough to get the references; controversy (Gemini) meets popularity (Libra); identifies with beauty

4th house Moon in Pisces exactly trine 12th house Neptune in Scorpio (watery planets in water signs in water houses!!) – musical prodigy, ”divine inspiration” (especially through dreams!), blending sexuality with spirituality, extreme psychic sensitivity to his environment (and “the other side”), very in touch with his “feminine” side, compulsive about sex, religion & fantasy, easily seduced/seductive (especially women); emotional dis/honesty; yearning for salvation and becoming a savior for others

2nd house Saturn in Sagittarius (beliefs, philosophies) opposing 8th house Sun in Gemini (words, ideas) - control issues and power struggles over what he believes he should own vs. what he creates, owes and shares with others

Repetitive Scorpio – Taurus axis themes: sexual vs. sensual; spiritual vs. material; self-control vs. possession of others; psychological vs. physical; power vs. money

Very Neptunian, Plutonian and Lunar. Mid-Heaven is heavily-aspected, too. Very driven to shape the world around him through art and can attract people to his way of living through “gentle” proselytizing (embedded in the music).

Aquarius (genius, rebellion, uniqueness) and Pisces in the 4th house with Moon (emotions, childhood, mother, wife/long-term lover) in Pisces (depression, addiction, creativity, feminine) and Mars (fights, rage, sex drive, masculine energy, father) in Aries (competition, innovation) there – Family themes in Purple Rain are probably more than just “semi-autobiographical”

Venus in Taurus (very strong position! Venus is in its home sign) in the 6th (house of Inequality, Service, Work & Mentorship associated with Virgo/Mercury + maybe Chiron) – organic approach to musicality; loves to work (and get paid for it!)/slaves over his creations; values tradition and those who came before him (see Beatles fascination); expects to be valued by his successors; can attract people (mentors) who benefit him musically, aesthetically or financially; an affinity with females, especially at work; may treat women like slaves and/or he’s a slave to beauty; mentors women; is mentored by women; Prolific art (daily output)

Aries/Mars in the 6th house (daily routines, work, technical proficiency) – fights w/ co-workers (especially males); wants to be the leader at work or work alone; will not follow anyone else’s rules; trend-setter; doesn’t like copycats; impulsively forms work collaborations; inspired by Arian types (see Aries Chaka Khan); found creative ways to manipulate electronic sounds instead of explaining what he wanted from others (@ 27 mins); feels that it’s his job to experiment and push the boundaries; self-employed (one of the first Black artists to found his own record label); simultaneously grants freedom and micromanages; needs daily competition (with self or others) to feel energized

Ruler of the 6th (daily routine, work) in the 4th (home, childhood, family) house – prefers to work in the comforts of his own home, he expects his co-workers to cater to his emotional needs; inspired by or drawn to Cancerian (maternal) types (see Chaka again with the Moon in Cancer); he uses his work to explore his psychological and childhood roots/influences; very much identified with his hometown, helped create the “Minneapolis Sound”

Uranus in Leo (the right to ”go crazy”) in the 9th squaring Venus in Taurus and 12th house Neptune in Scorpio - “weird” philosophy that makes it hard for him to make what he’s actually worth and hold onto what he creates (his innovative use of the Internet to bypass traditional distribution channels and distrust of the Internet is right here); can be very generous with his resources but there are always hidden strings or karmic costs attached (e.g. he may not realize how much giving will cost him, he may not realize how much he will receive by giving, others don’t realize what they’re signing up for when they accept his gifts)

Prince’s birth chart with the transits and progressions on the day Purple Rain (the album) was released.

Transits:

Saturn was in Scorpio from November 30, 1982 – May 6, 1983. Then went retrograde back into Libra. Then returned to Scorpio from August 25, 1983 – November 17, 1985. Do those dates “strike curious poses” to you?

Read on…

When Saturn is in Scorpio, the following is more apparent:

The seriousness of Saturn blends naturally with the secretiveness of Scorpio. Saturn gives the restraint to keep secrets so that a reserved exterior may conceal an active inner life. The character is deep, subtle, masterful, and difficult to fathom.

The ambition to make money is fed by a desire for the control money brings. The ability to influence people by pulling strings behind the scenes leads by slow, persistent, and indirect stages to the attainment of the power sought.

His “breakthrough” (went pop) album was 1999, which was released on October 7, 1982. The title track was originally released on September 24, 1982:

1999” is a song by Prince, the title track from his 1982 album 1999. The song is one of Prince’s best-known, and a defining moment in his rise to superstar status.

- Wikipedia

Notice that his soaring popularity corresponds with Saturn in Scorpio. His first albums to go pop were released during the first Saturn in Scorpio trip. Purple Rain (album and film) was released during the second trip and he rode those successes into 1985 – when Saturn left Scorpio and entered Sagittarius (more on this later).

Retrograde Saturn in Scorpio was crossing back and forth over Prince’s Ascendant in Scorpio. Saturn represents society’s rules, structures and our internal morality code. In Scorpio, the rules have to do with sex, money, power and death. When Saturn is retrograde, the rules are turned backwards and upside down: what was wrong is now right and what was right is now wrong. Prince’s image fit perfectly with the time (“Some people want to die so they can be free.” – “Controversy”) Before Saturn moved into Scorpio, an androgynous, uber-sexualized man would not have been acceptable (“You long-haired freak!”). But he redefined what is sexy (“Lovesexy”) for a generation (Note: his punchy comeback to Justin Timberlake in the early 00s: “You ain’t bringing sexy back. Sexy never left!”).

While he was revealing his body in scantily-clad outfits (and urging others to do the same; Gayle Chapman, his keyboardist, notes in the documentary that Prince’s girlfriend told her to wear some slutty, rock-star outfits at all times or she was fired), his ethnic background, feelings, thoughts, and sexual orientation were still a mystery, which increased people’s curiosity (demand) for sniffing out the answers: “Maybe if I buy his entire album and listen to all of the songs, I’ll learn more about him.” This was before the Internet and social media. The barriers between audience/fans and artists were still solid and thick. We had to purchase their products to feel intimate (Scorpio) with them. Scorpio is sexually free but withholds and avoids intimacy until trust is developed (even though intimacy is a craving). Until there is trust, sex is a good enough substitute for intimacy.

This is when the spread of AIDS (“the gay disease”) and homophobia (Scorpio Rock Hudson was the first mainstream celebrity who became the face of AIDS and undercover homosexuality. He died in 1985.) were intertwined, but Prince – with his questionable sexuality and eyebrow-raising fashion sense – managed to become popular (probably as an alternative to Michael Jackson’s squeaky clean image).

Adding to this, Pluto (the planet of renewal and co-ruler of Scorpio) in Libra was conjunct his Jupiter (the planet of luck & faith) in Libra. When there’s a transit to Jupiter, there’s often an increase in good fortune and fame. Libra is the sign of beauty and relationships. Prince’s “Purple” philosophy of combining aesthetic sensibilities with a brutally honest look at his interpersonal relationships struck a deep chord within the masses. The peek inside of his dysfunction was glamorous (Libra) enough for us to relate (Libra) and fall in love (Libra) with it and have our own cathartic (Pluto) experience.

Uranus (unexpected happenings, Revolutions!) in Sagittarius transiting his first house of identity and opposing his Sun in Gemini in the 8th house of shared resources. Note that he formed his band, The Revolution, in the early 80s, when Uranus moved into Sagittarius and he was hell-bent on selecting people for a very specific purpose (other than talent) – he wanted the band to represent different races, faces and places (Sagittarius). His sudden (Uranus) meteoric (Pluto, Jupiter) rise was largely due to people being open to hearing a philosophy of transcendence and exploration of whatever is foreign (Sagittarius). Gemini connects what is in our immediate vicinity while Sagittarius is concerned with finding out what’s out there. The blending of musical genres, the diverse faces in the crowd of the concert scenes, and the tour of Prince’s neighborhood (3rd house, Gemini) allowed people to experience that feeling of Oneness: “We are all the same. We all have family issues. We all have fears. Just because that person looks different from me or grew up in a different neighborhood doesn’t mean that s/he can’t identify with me.” Transiting Neptune (dissolution, spiritual unity) in Sagittarius conjoined with Prince’s Saturn in Sagittarius further describes the breaking down of social, racial, economic and political barriers. Interesting to note that Michael Jackson has similar planetary placements to Prince (Moon in Pisces, Saturn in Sagittarius), and was experiencing the same sudden meteoric rise in popularity for similar reasons (blending musical genres, androgynous appearance, appearing everywhere, etc.)

[About Prince's Saturn in Sagittarius...He had his Saturn Return (the coming of age era that occurs between 28-30) approximately between 1986 and 1988, and the albums he released during this time were not as commercially successful as his early 80s ones - and he was getting public push-back on his over-sexualized image. Note that his lyrics became more serious (e.g. "Sign O the Times") during this time. One music journalist in the documentary noted that Prince always seemed to be very introspective before but this song showed him "scanning his environment" (Sagittarius) and reporting what he saw (Gemini). Saturn is our maturation process. In Sagittarius, it can mean becoming more bigoted (Saturn is restriction) or more broad-minded and universal (Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, represents our expansion).]

Prince’s birth chart with the transits and progressions on the day Purple Rain (the film) was released.

During this time, Prince’s Sun (ego, life force) and Mercury (communication, thoughts) had progressed into Cancer. His progressed Sun was still in the 8th house (death, rebirth), though, so he was very much in the mood to explore the psychological inheritances (Scorpio, Pluto) of his father (Sun) and family dynamics (Cancer). His progressed Mercury was in his 9th house of the higher mind. He was especially introspective during this time (as we see in the way his Purple Rain character was often seen brooding in silence). Any old hurts were now shaping his new religion (check out the organs and sermon at the beginning of “Let’s Go Crazy” and the religious zeal of “I Would Die 4 U”), and he was able to articulate it in a way that people could feel (Cancer). His progressed Moon in Aquarius gave him that rebellious streak that every outcast or social misfit could relate to: “I want to be socially accepted – but for who I am, not for who you want me to be.” He was bringing a new sound to the forefront and made it okay to be “weird”. Both the Purple Rain soundtrack and film have the feel of competing (and, eventually, blended) subcultures.

After looking at his progressed chart during this time, I see why I was attracted to him. It’s funny how what we ”know” intuitively can be confirmed astrologically.

I wanted to write something for the 9th anniversary of Lisa’s death, but…I wasn’t feeling up to it. But after watching the “Crazy Sexy Cool” documentary, I felt inspired to finish.

So here it is.

Her birth time is unknown, so I’m using her solar chart (with Sun as the Ascendant) for my commentary.

When Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes passed away on April 25, 2002 at the age of 30, transiting Mars (energy, drive, violent impacts) and Saturn (restriction, limitation, karma) were conjunct (combined) in Gemini and conjunct her Sun (ego, life force) in Gemini. In her solar chart, these conjunctions were in her first house of Self, Body and Identity. In the natural zodiac, Aries and Mars rule the 1st house and the head. Reportedly, she died from head injuries resulting from being thrown out of her vehicle after losing control while speedily attempting to pass another slow-moving car. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the messenger God who is known for swift motion. Gemini and Mercury rules the 3rd house of local transportation, neighborhood/neighbors, communication and learning tools.

I find it ironic that Lisa was so heavy into numerology and astrology…yet ignored (or was oblivious to) some of the signs around her while paying very close attention (Gemini Sun loosely trine Pluto in Virgo) to others.

I don’t really need to add 2+2 here, right?

But I will:

The angels do their best to get our attention and to communicate with us. In this way, they help us heal our own lives. However, we often discount the signs they give us, writing them off as mere coincidences or our imagination. The angels say: “We can’t write our messages to you in the sky. You’ve got to pay attention and believe when you see any patterns forming in your life especially in response to any questions or prayers you’ve posed. When you hear the same song repeatedly or see the same number sequence, who do you think is behind this? Your angels, of course!”

Your angels often communicate messages to you by showing you sequences of numbers. They do this in two ways. First, they subtly whisper in your ear so you’ll look up in time to notice the clock’s time or a phone number on a billboard. The angels hope you’ll be aware that you’re seeing this same number sequence repeatedly. For instance, you may frequently see the number sequence 111, and it seems every time you look at a clock the time reads 1:11 or 11:11.

The second way in which angels show you meaningful number sequences is by physically arranging for, say, a car to drive in front of you that has a specific license plate number they want you to see. Those who are aware of this phenomenon become adept at reading the meaning of various license plates. In this way, the angels will actually give you detailed messages. Here are the basic meanings of various number sequences. However, your own angels will tell you if your situation holds a different meaning for you. Ask your angels, “What are you trying to tell me?” and they’ll happily give you additional information to help decode their numeric meanings.

111 – Monitor your thoughts carefully, and be sure to only think about what you want, not what you don’t want. This sequence is a sign that there is a gate of opportunity opening up, and your thoughts are manifesting into form at record speeds.”

[My note: I saw the "1:11" yesterday.]

Her Moon is in its home sign of Cancer, so her intuition was quite strong, as was the influence of her childhood (creative genius, abuse and alcoholism in the home) on her adult behavior. On an intuitive level, she didn’t need logic to shape or confirm her beliefs. The challenge with Moon in Cancer, though, is that it endows the person with the wisdom/attitude of a mother but the neediness of a child. While she was literally and figuratively adopting girls to show them a higher way of living, she was also emotionally dependent on a spiritual guru who some say is shady. His philosophy of finding mind-body-spirit balance through extreme dieting was, I feel, dangerous to Lisa’s well-being. Her need for a maternal figure (Moon in Cancer) conflicted with (exactly squared) what she needed to do in order to feel wholly healed: complete independence (Chiron in Aries).

Her Gemini Sun (narrow focus; logic) opposed Neptune (idealism; spirituality; deception) and her Jupiter (beliefs) is exactly conjunct Neptune in Sagittarius (broad focus; philosophy). In other words, she can easily be led away from her natural sense of inner balance by a smooth-talking (Gemini) sage (Sagittarius). After meeting one particular self-proclaimed spiritual guru in Honduras, she became obsessed with returning to Honduras, giving her money away to his causes and spreading his message to everyone she knew who would listen.

As a Gemini with a special ability with words and fame, she was a valuable promotional tool for any philosophy/scam (see also Tupac Shakur, another Gemini rapper with Moon in a water sign, who was used to promote Death Row’s wicked-ass philosophy and died violently in a car). Her very busy mind needed constant stimulation, and this can be Gemini’s Achilles Heel. Regardless of what their Inner Spiritual Voice is telling them, Geminis are susceptible to pretty words/lies/rationalizations from others (as well as their own minds).

Contrary to her need for eternal mental stimulation to give her energy (Sun in Gemini), her Mercury (thoughts, communication), Venus (socialization, friendships, money values) and Saturn (morality) are in Taurus, a slow, methodical sign. Taurus is not so much a spiritual sign as it is a physical sign. Taurus rules music, nature and possessions. It enjoys harmony and the simple life. With this placement, Lisa would find that her mind is most clear and at ease in the midst of communing with nature and may feel that it’s impossible to reach a spiritual zenith with too much attachment to stuff (Saturn in Taurus). So it’s no surprise that she would travel (Mercury) to Honduras where she could get away from her fame and the hectic life of competing for possessions (remember: one of the momentous events in her life was setting fire to her boyfriend’s STUFF after he cheated on her – thereby giving her STUFF away to another woman and not bringing STUFF back to her).

Mercury in Taurus needs facts and figures to make concepts tangible and, therefore, comprehensible. Numerology and astrology became the on-paper confirmations that she needed to satisfy the airy (critical) and earthy (logical) parts of her that required factual proof of what she already felt (Moon in Cancer) to be true: “You can’t always blame everyone for their problems. They are the result of their environment.”

Cancer is associated with the 4th house of Early Environment and Endings (many believe that the last 3rd of our lives is spent acting out our 4th house). In her solar chart, the ruler of her 4th house is in her 1st house, so part of her destiny was to return to her roots and figure out how her beginning (1st house) results from her ending (4th house), and vice versa. Shortly before her death, she literally and figuratively adopted (Moon in Cancer) some girls of different backgrounds from her (Jupiter in Sagittarius) and nurtured the careers of Egypt and Blaque, two R&B girl groups that she established.

Pluto in Virgo and Uranus (sudden occurrences) in Libra reside in the 4th house of her solar chart. Since Pluto is the planet associated with death and rebirth, let’s follow her 8th house (associated with death and metaphysics). The ruler of her 8th house is in her 7th house (of relationships) conjunct Neptune in Sagittarius and opposing Saturn in Taurus (slow obstacle) and Sun in Gemini (fast impact). This certainly describes her death in a foreign (Sagittarius) place surrounded by friends…and the rest of it.

Just days before her death, Lisa notes that her fears manifest in Honduras. A child runs in front of the car that Lisa was riding in – and is struck hard. She generously pays for his hospital and funeral expenses. But she’s not paying attention to all of the signs telling her to “sloooow down!” and “be safe!” – Saturn in Taurus. See below at 7:33:

And she probably didn’t pay attention to the license plate number on the car that wouldn’t move out of her way – right before she tried to go around it:

Lisa was the only fatality. She was also the only one not wearing a seat belt.

I remember finding out about Lisa’s death from my then-boyfriend. He was going through his Saturn Return and we were going through a lot of drama. Transiting Mars and Saturn in Gemini were conjunct my Mars in Gemini and his Mars in Gemini. Coincidentally, my ex and I met after both of us had transportation-related crises in late 2001. His car accident that totaled his car was local (Gemini) and my emergency plane landing was international (Sagittarius). Consequently, both of us had developed a more cautious attitude about driving and traveling recklessly. Lisa’s death drove that point home for us even more. We were both big fans and her death made us pause our restless arguing and remember that our tomorrows are not promised to us. We must live life as if every day is our last and cherish our loved ones because they won’t be here – in a way that we can see, taste, hear, smell or touch – forever.

Astro-note: Anyone with an emphasis of Gemini and Sagittarius (especially Mars, Jupiter or Uranus in these signs!) in the natal or progressed chart needs to beware of reckless movement and always wear seatbelts and other protective gear when traveling. (See also Chris Henry and Tiger Woods.)

The first single from her first solo album, “Super Nova” (updated to feature rapper Lil Mama), is about – surprise! – her neighborhood:

Some people “play” (gamble) the numbers that they see in their dreams without thinking of the deeper meanings. During my Vegas trip, my friend was on a hot streak. It wasn’t until we returned home that she let me in on her strategy: playing meaningful dates. Meanwhile, I think my angel was whispering in my ear not to bet any money because when I played in my head, I kept losing – even when the choice was red or black.

When I was a child, I often made a game out of remembering number patterns with my dad. I’d also correctly guess the exact time, the song that was playing on the radio and who was calling (pre-caller ID). But then I “grew up” and put away my childish games – and had to learn the long, hard way to remain open to the Universe’s “hidden” messages. The less I disbelieve, the more I see the patterns…

Narcissism (n.): inordinate fascination with oneself; excessive self-love; vanity.

Our star (Sun) sign is what many people usually first think about when astrology is mentioned.  We usually become interested in reading our horoscope because we identify with the characterizations of our Sun sign, the part of our horoscope that represents our core character or our source of energy. It is the light in us that needs to be nurtured and recognized in order for us to feel whole. The Sun closely corresponds to what is referred to in psychology as the “ego”.

Sometimes, though, I get tired of people who believe that astrology amounts to reading or hearing praise for their ego. You know the ones. They tell you how much they’re “into astrology” but frown when you mention anything about their Sun sign that doesn’t feed into their image of themselves.  Despite being “into astrology”, they can’t get beyond learning about their Sun sign because it describes 90% of what they identify with about themselves. (Red flag: They are their egos.) They’re subscribed to every Zodiac feed on Twitter but get angry or disappointed that they have to scroll through all of the other boring signs to get to theirs – or someone who is related to them by love, friendship, family, work. “Why devote equal time to the other signs when everyone (should) know that [insert my sign here] is the best?” Never mind that they could get to know their deeper selves (and learn how to better relate to others) if they went beyond paying attention only to their Sun signs. In other words, ego maniacs.

While reading some typical flowery descriptions of the zodiac signs’ energy on Twitter (because how else can you be consistently “retweeted”, or RT’d, without the flowery stuff?), I thought about how nice it would be if someone wrote about how these Sun sign energies can manifest in people with moderate to extreme personality disorders, especially narcissistic personality disorder. This particular personality seems to be drawn to social networks like a bee to a…well, flower.

So…here’s how I’ve experienced the different zodiac signs with hyperactive egos in my Twitter timeline, either because I put them there by following them (or tweeting with mine) or was forced to endure them via RT, persistent “@”ing (directing a tweet to me) long after I’ve explicitly checked out of the conversation/connection or spamming (e.g. encouraging me to pay attention to, consume or promote their goods or services without first establishing some kind of connection and/or considering how any of this will benefit me).

Disclaimer: I’m not a certified psychologist – yet. ;-) However, I am a person who has studied psychology in school and astrology in my spare time. And I have a dark sense of humor.  I highly recommend that you activate yours before reading further.

Also, these can apply if the sign is rising in our horoscope (the part of the personality we easily reveal to strangers and acquaintances), if it’s our Moon sign (unconscious part of our personality), if the sign is ruled by a planet that aspects our Sun, if the sign is associated with the house in which our Sun resides, or if the sign is emphasized in our chart with several planets placed in it.

Special shout-out to people with Moon or Rising in Leo (the sign ruled by the Sun), who have personal planets in Leo, who have conjunctions that involve planets in Leo, or who have 3 or more planets in Leo. If you’re not an honorary ego-centered Leo, then you probably do a good impression of one. Ref.

Since the naturally self-centered Aries is used to going first in these zodiac round-ups, let’s switch up the order and put this sign last. :)

Narcissistic #Pisces/Neptune/12th house: “You’re the cruelest person ever for not reinforcing [insert my fantasy here]! But I’ll forgive you if you grovel.” Ref.

Narcissistic #Aquarius/Uranus/Saturn/11th house: “If only I didn’t have to keep reminding people to be as authentic as me, I could finish my awesome invention.” Ref.

Narcissistic #Capricorn/Saturn/10th house: “I’m so sorry that I stepped on your toes, shoulders, head & dreams to reach my goal. I said ‘excuse me’.” Ref.

Narcissistic #Sagittarius/Jupiter/9th house: “What? I hurt your feelings with my philosophy on the world according to me? It’s against the law to tell the truth now? Why can’t you just get over it like me? You just want to get in the way of my fun.” Ref.

Narcissistic #Scorpio/Pluto/Mars/8th house: “I don’t give a shit what Leo said. Scorpios are the best zodiac sign. Why? Because we’re SCORPIOS, muthafucker. Don’t hate me ’cause you ain’t me.” Ref.

Narcissistic #Libra/Venus/7th house: “I’m the most likable person that you’ll ever meet. None of my 50 bajillion exes deserved me – even though we’re still friends. And they still want me.” Ref.

Narcissistic #Virgo/Mercury/6th house: “If I don’t do it, then it won’t be done correctly. Yes, even my errors are correct. OMG, I make the worst mistakes!” Ref.

Narcissistic #Leo/Sun/5th house: “You know I’m a Leo, right? Did you also know that the Universe created itself so that I could be the center of it? When I want your opinion (of me), then I’ll give it to you.” Ref.

Narcissistic #Cancer/Moon/4th house: “I should get a Giver’s Lifetime Achievement Award. People would drop dead if it weren’t for me. Seriously.” Ref.

Narcissistic #Gemini/Mercury/3rd house: “You should’ve let me write these tweets for you. But you need the practice to be as witty as me, so never mind.” Ref.

Narcissistic #Taurus/Venus/2nd house: “I enjoyed this dinner. But not as much as you enjoyed my company.” *nudges the bill to your side of the table & then visits the restroom* Ref.

Narcissistic #Aries/Mars/1st house: “Mmm hmm. Your cat died? Really? That reminds me of my cat. Want to see pictures? I was the first man who was sexy enough at my school to play Maggie in “A Cat On a Hot Tin Roof…” Ref.

Funnily enough, several people who I’ve met through Twitter have messaged me privately that they have been officially diagnosed as a narcissist. One time, this revelation came after someone took offense to a joke that I made that was tangentially related to autism – because his son has autism and, of course, I was talking about his son in my tweet…even though the point of the joke wasn’t about his son…or even autism.  People who jump to correct or chastise a person based on a tweet that they feel unfairly characterizes them – despite their names not being mentioned in the tweet or them not even being in the mind of the tweeter at the time of tweeting – without thinking about all of the other people that the tweet could be referring to might wanna check out the related articles below. Remember, it’s fun to read about ourselves, right?

(Note: I suspect extreme narcissism is why the “subtweet” is so popular and effective on Twitter. I’ve even seen some attention-seeking, narcissistic people claim not to subtweet…which usually comes after they read a subtweet, so it becomes a subtweet to those who do. Gotta love the ironic lack of self-awareness of a narcissist.)

Another observation of interest (to me anyway) is how some people go out of their way to be in the public eye but advise others to “mind their own business” if the conclusions drawn about them are not flattering. Cue rage fits and other eyebrow-raising antics.

Paris Hilton - one of the people who was on the cutting edge of the current phenomenon of being famous and worshiped in society while having no discernible talents other than self-promotion. She has Sun, Mercury and Venus in Aquarius with Moon in Leo and Mars in Pisces. Her exact Sun-Mercury conjunction gives her self-centered thinking and guarantees that she is her favorite topic of conversation. Venus trine Jupiter in air signs expands her love of being the center of social attention. The book she allegedly wrote about coolness and popularity is titled "Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose". If she wrote even a few sentences in this book, then she's definitely in on the joke about how maintaining her false(?) image has become her life.

If you're a social networking narcissist and proud of it, this design can be made into a T-shirt at www.despairwear.com.
